i think i am all caught up on sleep...well as far as jet lag goes...i always require a lot of sleep anyways though :)
we slept in and took our time to get our day started on Thursday while Willem (GGF) was working. We met with him early that day and headed to the train station to get our train tickets to Prague....ya! so...you cant buy tickets online or by phone..you have to go there and wait..so thats definitely what we did!!
how it works is you get a number when you walk in and wait for your number to come up on the tv screen to tell you which counter to go to schedule your trip. well we got #440 and they were on # 372 when we got there...doesnt sound too bad but it took about 2 mins for each number! so in the next two hours we had plenty of time to catch up and talk and people watch some of the crazy Dutch people passing by :) the guy waiting next to us pulled some bread out of his backpack...so i watch him make his lunch. Well, then he pulled out a jar of jelly....then a block of cheese!! ya so he ate a jelly and cheese sandwich....i found out later that this is a pretty usually thing here!
so ya...we finally booked our tickets....its an 11 hour trip with two stops where we have to switch trains. We only have about 10 mins at one transfer which is near impossible she warned us! But...she said if we try and miss it, we can catch the next one 2 hours later! So Jill and I are going to run and we will see :) my bags might make this difficult!
After leaving Central Station, we headed to the grocery store to get a few things. I felt like a little kid in a toy store!! I loved seeing all the different types of food that they sell here! They have lots of cool juices/smoothies that are pretty healthy because they dont add any sugar or anything extra. So i think we grabbed one of everything in that section...my favorite might be the "Fruit 2 day" Its basically a thin smoothie mix of two fruit flavors with a few small bits of the fruit in it. But Willem told me that they have a ton of cows here in the Netherlands, so they have a lot of dairy and cheese- which they are well known for. Oh ya...by the way....you bag your on groceries and you have to pay for the bags!!
We ate at a Vegetarian restaurant...pretty cute smaller place. We sat at the "share table" which was interesting! The first two girls would not stop taking pictures of them by using our water pitcher as a camera tripod! The next group...thought it was pretty cool to blow their smoke in our face! ya...i think you can smoke in any place here, but rumors that they might ban this soon.
I have learned one Dutch word: Dankuvel (thank you)
ya...i tried for the second, but I was a little off!! Jill thought this was pretty funny! I tried to remember "alsjeblieft" (please) ....im pretty sure i said "believe-ith" being completely serious! :) so i need some more work...
